About
Afroismassive was born during the production of The Batman (2022), where it became clear that there was a significant lack of proper training for Afro and textured hair in the entertainment industry. After countless conversations with other Black performers, our founder, Choreographer, Stuntwoman, & Presenter, Jessica Walker, noticed the frustration and challenges this specific community with textured hair faced, and she knew something had to change.
What began as a series of small acts of advocacy has grown into a full-scale project, aiming to transform the beauty landscape from the inside. From launching educational content during the Dear Hairstylists YouTube series to partnering with salons and production companies, Afroismassive is now a driving force for change.
We are here to empower hairstylists, actors, and production teams with the tools and confidence needed to embrace the beauty of textured hair—particularly in film and TV. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure that individuals with textured and Afro hair receive the professional care and respect they deserve, both on and off the screen.
We envision a future where every hair and makeup chair reflects the rich diversity seen on-screen. Afroismassive is set on becoming the industry standard for inclusive hair care—where every curl, kink, and coil is celebrated, and where no one has to worry about whether the stylists on set are prepared for their hair type.
Jessica's work in the film industry as a Stunt Artist includes Arclight in Deadpool Vs Wolverine (Marvel), Baela & Reina Double in House Of the Dragon (HBO), Nessa Rose Double in Wicked (Warner Bros), Billie Double in Avenue 5 (Apple TV), Trigger Point (ITV), Dr Strange 2, The Marvels (Marvel Studios), Witches in Acolyte (Lucas Films), Man Who Fell From The Sky (HBO), The Baby (Netflix), The Little Mermaid (Disney).
